This year marks a special milestone for our colleague Nancy. She is celebrating her 10-year anniversary at iPS Powerful People! Known for her ever-present smile, and her unwavering positivity, Nancy has been a cornerstone of our Hostess team. We sat down with Nancy to reflect on her journey, her favorite memories, and what keeps her inspired every day.
How has your career at iPS evolved over the past 10 years?
Nancy: “I started as a receptionist, handling the usual front desk responsibilities,” Nancy recalls. “But over the years, my role has evolved in a completely different direction. I’ve taken on tasks related to sustainability, managing office supplies, organizing lunches, and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.”
Nancy also spent a year in the mid-office team before returning to her original role, where she thrives on being the go-to person for just about everything.
What are the biggest changes you’ve seen at iPS?
Nancy: “iPS has become so international,” Nancy notes. “During the COVID period, working from home became the norm, and I sometimes missed the daily contact with colleagues.”
She also reflects on the new office space: “It’s a beautiful and cozy environment, and during the afternoons, I focus more on administrative tasks now.”
Can you share a challenging project you worked on?
Rather than a single project, Nancy highlights the importance of the informal and supportive culture at iPS. Nancy: “The people here make all the difference. It’s a fun and caring environment, and the organization takes good care of us.”
What do you enjoy most about working at iPS?
Without hesitation, Nancy says, “The colleagues! I love the informal atmosphere, the variety in my tasks, and the joy I find in organizing and getting things done. I also feel proud to contribute to our sustainability efforts—it’s meaningful to be part of something bigger.”
A proud moment in your career?
While Nancy is modest about her achievements, her consistent dedication and the trust she’s earned from everyone around her speak volumes. Her ability to keep everything running smoothly, often behind the scenes, is a success story in itself.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Nancy laughs as she remembers being approached for this interview. “Marisa convinced me to do it—even though I was a bit nervous about the English!” And despite a decade at iPS, she says, “I still go to work every day with a smile.”
Outside of work: What does Nancy enjoy?
In her free time, Nancy loves shopping, relaxing with music and a drink, and spending time with her adorable Shar-Pei dog. She also enjoys unwinding and making the most of her downtime.
And of course, she cherishes the little traditions—like Friday lunch with Cheryl and Karel, and the unforgettable iPS Ibiza trip celebrating 35 years (though she jokes she might have enjoyed it even more 20 years ago! 😉).
