Getting to know the Maritime Students: A sunny sea-soaked Bedrijvendag at MIWB

17 April 2025

Attending the MIWB Bedrijvendag is always a highlight for us—but the journey to Terschelling adds its own charm. Cruising over the Afsluitdijk sets the scene perfectly: maritime spirit, wide horizons, and the anticipation of meaningful interactions.

Setting up and settling in

Our day started by prepping our stand and joining the other attendees for the official kick-off. During the opening speech, we heard the exciting news about the school’s brand-new simulator for student training—something we couldn’t wait to explore ourselves.

Connecting with future maritime professionals

As the sun lit up the school grounds, we got right into what the day is all about: connecting with students. From the very first moments, we had lively chats with curious and motivated students, many of whom were just starting out in their studies. Our colleagues Mariana, Maikel, and Arnould where present at the stand during the busiest moments, answering questions, swapping stories, and diving deep into what it’s like to work through an agency.

We really enjoyed the open and informal vibe—plenty of great conversations, shared laughs, and some insightful questions that sparked meaningful exchanges. It was clear these students are passionate and already thinking ahead.

A taste of the sea

Before heading back, we couldn’t resist checking out the much-hyped simulators. What an experience! Navigating a virtual harbor, seeing vessels from the other simulators in real time—it truly felt like being out on the water. Not one of us got seasick. Sea-legs confirmed! 😉
