Recently, our colleague Guido had an interview with Mexico Business News. This interview covered the oil and gas industry in Mexico. Guido answered questions regarding the challenges iPS had to address and the opportunities the company sees in this industry.

Here’s a sneak peek into the first question:

Q: How does iPS Powerful People support the oil and gas industry in Mexico and the United States?

A: iPS Powerful People has been in the region for a long time, opening an office in Mexico in 2007 and establishing a virtual office in Houston in 2016 and a physical presence since 2021. A large part of our work takes place in the Gulf of Mexico, both on the Mexican and US sides. Operations differ significantly between the two countries. The United States has over 4,000 wells in operation, while Mexico had only 30 to 50 wells until 2014. This gap created considerable opportunities for growth.

We address our customers’ HR and recruitment needs, especially in Mexico. Many companies entering Mexico, particularly during the Energy Reform, kept their engineering and decision-making functions in Houston. During that period, we trained local personnel and assisted international clients with sourcing talent to strengthen their teams operationally and administratively in Mexico. We have a large database of experienced candidates in Mexico. Although obtaining US visas can be difficult, these candidates are in high demand in the United States and other parts of the world.

We also support companies in the United States with their HR and recruitment needs. The US market is known for its litigious nature, which makes it essential to ensure proper insurance coverage and compliant contracts. Besides oil and gas, iPS is also active in the offshore wind industry in the United States, especially in the Northeast where many new players have entered the market. We are using our experiences from other parts in the world to support this emerging sector in the United States.
