Function description

As a Support Fluid Operator / Mud Engineer, you will be performing the following activities:


  • Prepare and maintain drilling fluids according to project requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct regular tests on drilling fluids to monitor properties such as viscosity, density, and pH levels, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency for drilling fluids, making adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of drilling fluid materials and additives, ensuring timely procurement and availability.
  • Operate and maintain fluid mixing and pumping equipment, ensuring it is good working condition.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols related to the handling and use of drilling fluids and chemicals.
  • Keep detailed records of fluid properties, usage, and adjustments, and prepare reports for project management.
  • Work closely with the project manager, site manager, and other team members to ensure smooth project execution and address any fluid-related issues.

In addition to having experience in this area, we have the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mud Engineer or in a similar role, preferably within port or marine engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling fluid systems, including their compsition, properties, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in conducting and interpreting fluid tests and making necessary adjustments based on results.
  • Excellent verbal and written bilingual communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address fluid related issues promptly and effectively.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or equivalent.
  • Relevant certification in mud engineering or drilling fluid technology.
  • Certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certification in environmental safety practices and regulations.
