A Carousel Operator is responsible for operating machinery that manages the winding and unwinding of materials such as cables, wires, or fibers. The role involves monitoring and controlling the carousel’s operation, ensuring proper tension, and maintaining material quality. Operators must follow safety protocols while handling materials and machinery, particularly in offshore or marine environments.
Function description
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate carousel machines to wind or unwind materials such as cables, wires, and fibers.
- Monitor the material spool or reel to ensure proper alignment and prevent damage.
- Adjust the speed and tension of the carousel to ensure smooth operation and prevent material breakage.
- Inspect the material quality and report any defects or issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the carousel machine.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
- Keep accurate records of materials processed, machine settings, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production teams to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or technical certifications in machinery operation are preferred.
- Proven experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of carousel machines and equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and operational procedures.
Requirements & Certifications:
- Previous experience in offshore cable lay or pipelay operations.
- Experience with carousel, tensioner, and spooling systems.
- BOSIET with CA-EBS (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training).
- GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Training (for offshore wind projects).
- STCW Certifications (for marine operations).
- Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).
- Valid Seaman’s Book.
- Mechanical or technical background (preferred).
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
