Function description
As a Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical condition of several assigned vessels. You will be the main technical point of contact for the Chief Engineers on board, providing support and guidance via phone, email, and during vessel visits. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that all machinery runs smoothly and meets our quality standards, allowing our vessels to operate efficiently.
You will be responsible for planning and overseeing dockings, repairs, and maintenance of onboard equipment, managing budgets, maintaining technical documentation, advising on technical improvements, and supporting the procurement department. You'll work closely with the Technical Manager, Technical Purchaser, and our Chief Engineers.
Requirements
- A technical qualification (MBO+ level or similar) as a mechanical engineer.
- At least 5 years of experience as a 2nd or Chief Engineer, or in ship repairs.
- Valid COC and STCW.
- Familiarity with modern electronics, control systems, and computers. Knowledge of hybrid and after-treatment systems is a plus.
- Experience with managing repairs and dockings in line with classification, flag state, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, a practical mindset, and hands-on approach.
- Flexibility, with a willingness to work internationally and outside standard hours.
- Strong communication skills, the ability to motivate others, and effectively convey technical knowledge.
- Fluent in both Dutch and English (written and spoken).
