Our Regional General Manager, Ali Al Ghanim, recently participated as a panel speaker at the Asharqia Chamber during the session “Navigating Energy Market Dynamics and Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience.” Alongside his role at iPS Powerful People, Ali also contributes to the global energy dialogue as a Global Ambassador at the Energy Industries Council (EIC), bringing valuable insights into workforce trends shaping the GCC region.

During the panel, Ali shared his perspective on how organizations are adapting to ongoing uncertainty and transformation across the energy sector and its supply chain.

A Shift Toward Strategic Workforce Planning

Reflecting on recent developments, Ali highlighted a surprising trend: the remarkable adaptability of organizations across the region. While initial expectations pointed toward a slowdown in recruitment and workforce mobilization, the reality proved different. Demand has remained steady, albeit with a more structured and cautious approach.

Rather than reacting to immediate needs, companies are now planning workforce requirements earlier, embedding flexibility into their staffing models. This evolution marks a clear shift toward resilience, with businesses prioritizing long-term planning over short-term fixes.

A More Structured Approach to Talent Acquisition

Recent market dynamics have significantly reshaped how organizations approach recruitment and project staffing. According to Ali, companies are becoming more selective and strategic, with a growing emphasis on:

  • Contract staffing and project-based hiring
  • Partnerships with managed service providers
  • Faster and more efficient talent mobilisation

At the same time, localisation policies across the GCC are playing a crucial role in shaping hiring decisions. Organizations are increasingly tasked with balancing international expertise with the development of national talent, leading to more compliance-driven and structured workforce strategies.

Opportunities in Transformation and Integration

Despite challenges, the energy sector continues to present strong opportunities—particularly in workforce solutions that support large-scale transformation projects. Key growth areas include:

  • Integrated recruitment services
  • Multi-jurisdictional payroll and compliance solutions
  • Specialized talent pipelines for energy, engineering, and industrial sectors

Ali also noted a rising preference for end-to-end outsourcing models, where companies partner with a single provider rather than multiple fragmented services. This approach enhances efficiency, reduces risk, and ensures greater consistency across operations.

Additionally, ongoing localisation initiatives are opening the door for sustainable workforce development, creating long-term value for both businesses and national economies.

Looking Ahead: Digital Workforce Ecosystems

When looking toward the remainder of 2026 and beyond, Ali identified one defining trend: the shift toward fully integrated, digitally enabled workforce ecosystems.

Organizations are gradually moving away from traditional recruitment methods toward centralized platforms that combine:

  • Hiring
  • Payroll
  • Compliance
  • Workforce mobilisation

This digital transformation is expected to redefine how companies manage talent, making processes more agile, transparent, and scalable. At the same time, localisation will remain a key driver, requiring businesses to align their workforce strategies with national priorities.

Preparing for the Future

Ali emphasized that companies investing early in digital HR infrastructure and scalable workforce planning models will be best positioned for long-term success. In an increasingly complex and dynamic market, the ability to adapt through integrated solutions and forward-thinking strategies will be a decisive competitive advantage.
