Meet Filipe, a Portuguese/German enthusiast living in Rotterdam, where he thrives as a Recruitment Consultant at iPS Select. With a penchant for helping others, he crafts perfect matches between clients and candidates, specializing in white-collar positions in the maritime and energy sectors. When not at work, he enjoys sports and cherished moments with loved ones, making each day an adventure.

Who are you and what do you do at iPS Select?

I’m Filipe, a Portuguese/german man born and raised in Porto, Portugal. I moved to the Netherlands for my studies and have struggled to leave ever since. I’ve been in Rotterdam for around 2-3 years now and it is starting to feel a lot like home.

Outside from work I enjoy sports and quality time with my loved ones. A nice movie, a nice meal can easily make a good day. I am trying to get back into my running habits after the winter hibernation.

I am someone who likes to help people, so it is a great feeling when you are successful in that and both client and candidate are happy.

What is iPS Select about?

I’m a (Jr.) Recruitment Consultant at iPS Select, which means we are the link between our candidates and our clients. We listen to the client’s needs and try a candidate that could create the best match for the specific client/project/role.

At Select, we mostly deal with white-collar positions that usually require higher educated candidates. We have way more onshore roles than the other departments, but also deal in some offshore roles like QHSE or Superintendents.

We deal with temporary assignments as well as long-term employment, so we try to place iPS ambassadors throughout our client’s organizations.

What do you like about your job?

The best part of my job is the feeling of success when you find a successful match between candidate and client. The client can go on to complete his projects and the candidate will enter a new chapter in life that I helped them start.

Additionally, I think the Maritime/Offshore industry is a pretty cool one. The projects that we are involved in give me a sense of participation in big things. It’s cool to be a part of it even if as an outsider.

What tips do you have for candidates?

Some things we can change, some not. VISAs and certifications requirements, we cannot change. Slightly less experience might be okay. Apply for roles that you are passionate about and do research on what projects you would like to be a part of. Imagine yourself in a role and think about the steps you need to make to get there.

Why would you choose iPS Select?

We are in touch with most of the big players in the industry. We are also in touch with the smaller companies that want us to help them in their niche markets.

If you are open to hearing what might be possible, we can discuss with you what might work and what probably wouldn’t work. We know from clients what sort of profiles they want and what their short-term future looks like.

If you stay in touch with us, we will make sure to keep you on our shortlist of candidates.

How to get in touch?

The best way is to get in touch via e-mail. Send us your CV for a quick glance and let us know what you are looking for. After this, we can easily give you a ring or exchange some emails.

A quick introduction takes only 10-15 mins and from then on we will keep you in mind for the future, so sometimes a quick phone call can be a big changer in your career.
