Function description

As a Buyer, you will be immersed into a role with dedicated responsibilities to coordinating all activities related to procurement and the supply chain. You will focus on purchasing operations and/pr tehcnical commodities. Paired with your expertise, a reliable network of suppliers and subcontractors will help get the project done in time and within the budget. Depending on your experience, projects vary in size.


Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities related to procurement beginning with intent to purchase. These include preliminary specifications, selecting preferred suppliers, and dating parts and/or supplies that are needed;
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get the lowest possible cost for the purchased parts/ services and supplies balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs;
  • Purchase a variety of complex and/or technical parts and supplies; materials, components, and services as required based on approved requisitions;
  • Performs Purchase Order (PO) maintenance associated with ordering, expediting, distribution, approvals, and record keeping. Ensures purchasing records are current and up to date in accordance with company policy and ISO documented standards;
  • Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes;
  • Lead and manage Return Material Authorizations (RMA) from suppliers when necessary;
  • Manage, develop, and maintain inventory levels;
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activity to decrease material COGS (Cost of Goods sold) and work with Manufacturing and design engineers to assist in Value engineering/value analysis on parts.

Requirements

We are looking for a variety of candidates who are interested to work as a buyer, starters, or experienced veterans. We do, however, have a few criteria we hold close to when assessing applications. These are the following:

  • A (Technical) Bachelor’s degree, NEVI is seen as a plus;
  • A minimum of five years related work experience and/or training in an industrial environment working with complex and/or technical supplies and materials;
  • Previous experience using and understanding computerized ERP systems;
  • Experience in negotiating with different parties;
  • Familiar with electro-mechanical assemblies and/or equipment;
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of IFS or similar MRP or ERP software systems and MS Office;
  • Knowledge of the (offshore) energy industry is a plus;
  • Valid EU work permit.
