Short description

We are looking for a Geologist with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry to work in Mexico City. This is an excellent opportunity to continue to build a great career in a consolidated global German company.

Function description

As a Geologist, you will be performing the following activities:


  • Leading position in the geophysical and geological (G&G) evaluation of Block 30 in the Southeast Basin, operated by the company.


  • Coordination of G&G work in Block 30 within the Business Units, including the G&G service centers related to the Central Offices.


  • Identification, maturation and de-risking of drilling prospects, including volume and risk assessment in compliance with the company's exploration guidelines.


  • Reservoir channel analysis, hydrocarbon loading and drainage area analysis and development of structural concepts.


  • Support to operational personnel in relation to well planning, including coordination and supervision of operational activities, as well as contribution to the data acquisition strategy for wells.


  • Active collaboration with partners with whom joint ventures are developed.


  • Presentation of results internally and at bylaw-mandated meetings (TCMs), workshops and conferences.


  • Be an integral part of actively supporting exploration growth goals and portfolio expansion.


  • Comply with corporate HSEQ and data management standards.


  • Close collaboration with the regional exploration team.

Requirements

To be considered you must have the following experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical Degree
  • Master of Science in Geology or Geophysics
  • Proficient in English and Spanish (written & spoken).


  • More than 10 years of experience in the industry, and experience in project management.


  • Special technical knowledge such as: Software. Legislation, Standards.


  • Experience in operations and relevant operating projects, as well as in international joint ventures.


  • A good knowledge of petroleum geoscience coupled with experience in structural and salt basin geology, sedimentology and basin modeling.


  • Advanced knowledge in the use of software such as Petrel, ArcGIS and GeoX.


  • Extensive knowledge in volumetric calculation and risk assessment, including the company's exploration standards.


  • Ability to coordinate work with junior team, regional team and support based on service requests from central offices as well as related disciplines.


  • Perform well in a multidisciplinary team environment.



  • Ability to advance prospects through internal Quality Assurance processes.
